One of the most important steps in the design process is to select the perfect shade and that’s what Jana Hučíková, our creative director does. We chatted to her about Lejaan’s colour philosophy.

A Dream Home

Lejaan has had a sophisticated approach to colour schemes right from the very beginning. “Our priority has always been to create a harmonious look in the home, giving one the freedom to match pieces exactly to one’s liking. That's one of the reasons we decided to unify our colour palette,” says Creative Director Jana, who’s been at Lejaan right from its outset.

“Many modern apartments and houses feature bathrooms right beside the bedroom or, in fact, have ensuite rooms,” says Jana, explaining why seemingly unrelated product lines – bed linen and bath linen – match together.

The Creative Process: Aesthetic and Practical Vision Entwined

“When choosing colours, my main focus is always on the bed linen and the shades of bath linen naturally evolve from this,” says Jana describing the first steps of her creative process. Although the colour scheme of the products often match, it may not seem so at first glance. In fact, many other factors influence the final result.

“With towels, functionality is clearly the most important criteria in their design. When broadening our collections, apart from colour, I must also consider the terry fabric structure and what purpose the towel is to serve. For example, with our Playful Cotton towel collection, we chose a lighter weight fabric and a playful stripe as it’s part of our basic collection,” says Jana, emphasising how practicality goes hand in hand with the aesthetic. Colour choice designs must incorporate practicality and function.

Our Signature Colour Spectrum

All our bedroom and bathroom products carry meticulously selected Pantone shades. Each chosen hue is inspired by an idea, a feeling or an experience and our product images communicate this in each collection.

For example, our signature navy blue makes one think of deep ocean depths, our brick hue brings back holiday moments at grandma's cottage and the grey blue shade feels like a breath of fresh air before a storm.

How to Create a Timeless and Sustainable Interior

The key to a visually aesthetic home is to choose pieces which complement each other perfectly. “Our goal is to give customers the possibility of furnishing their entire home in their favourite colour and to purchase it all from the one place,” says Jana. Choosing the right colour, a colour one never tires of, is the main ingredient for achieving a timeless look.
